Recent Paintings

This group of work investigates abstraction, new modes of creation and new materials. I have long believed that technology bears a great influence upon our aesthetics as can be identified with recent sculpture, time-based media and of course the effect of synthetic materials. In the past, artists would purposefully use pigments such as ultramarine for their rarity and thusly imbue the work with oppulence. As seen with bling culture today, oppulence is still as desireable as it was during the renaissance. Through this body of work I explore the ethics of luxury, the position of the individual and the relationship between technology and aesthetics.
